The Financial Services Industry is among the most regulated in the world and is continually under scrutiny by consumer pressure groups and government.

The below organisations are some the major contributing factors to the way First Response conducts it’s business and shape it’s policies and best practice.


 

Financial Services Authority (FSA)

An independent non-governmental body, given statutory powers by the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000.  (FSMA)

 

First Response is Authorised and Regulated by the Financial Services Authority for the sale of General Insurance products.

The UK's largest Trade Association, it's mission is to advance the interests of its members and their customers by promoting an open, competitive and fairly regulated market place.  First Response is bound by it's Lending Code of Practice. (A copy is available at the bottom of this page.)

Consumer Credit Trade Association

 

Aims meet the needs of members in a professional, cost effective & easily accessible format by providing innovative services from a recognised & strongly independent trade association within the consumer credit industry.  First Response often use CCTA for legal advice.


 

CIFAS and Fraud

 

Fraud is an unfortunate reality in today's market place and effects companies like ourselves and innocent consumers everyday.  Fraud costs the economy Millions of pounds each year and is linked to the funding of Organised Crime and Terrorism.

 

At First Response we are committed to minimising the threat of fraud and as such are fully accredited members of CIFAS, the UK's Fraud Prevention Service.

Government Authorities

 

Office of Fair Trading

 

The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) is responsible for promoting and protecting consumer interests throughout the UK by monitoring businesses to make sure they are competitive and fair. It also issues Consumer Credit Licences (CCL’s) and through the Trading Standards Office it enforces the law and those regulations that govern the goods and services which we all buy.
