Andy Shim started acting when he was 15 at the Carlton Junior Workshop Ran by Carlton Studio's and Ian Smith. Andy was in the workshop for about 5 months when he went for an audition for a film called A Room for Romeo Brass, directed by Shane Meadows (Winner - Best British Film - BAFTA’s 2008).

 

A Room for Romeo Brass also starred Vicky McClure (This is England - Lol) and Paddy Considine (The Bourne Ultimatum – Simon Ross), Andy was cast for the role of Romeo Brass and has since worked on all Shane Meadows projects since.

Once Upon A Time In The Midlands was Andy’s second film directed by Shane. It starred Robert Carlyle (James Bond - The World Is Not Enough - Renard), Rhys Ifans (Notting Hill - Spike), Kathy Burke (Kevin & Perry Go Large - Perry), and Ricky Tomlinson (The Royal Family - Jim Royal).

Fungus The Bogeyman a classic book that the BBC and a Canadian company decided to produce as a three part cartoon on BBC 1 for Christmas in 2005. Andy provided the voice and movement of the character Grot using Motion capture the same way they make football computer games like FIFA.

The Stairwell was a 20 second short film for Nokia that Andy shim and Vicky McClure starred in and again directed by Shane Meadows.

 

This Is England is Andy’s latest film. This Is England was released on 27 April 2007 and has since won “The Best British Film Award” at the 2008 BAFTA’s. Andy was cast as Milky, The film also starred Stephen Graham (Snatch – Tommy), Vicky McClure (Filth & Wisdon - Juliette), Thomas Turgoose (Winner of The Most Promising Newcomer Award - British Independent Film Awards).
